Into the Dark performance. 2017.
Duration one hour:
Through a fragmented, poetic sequence of scenes and sound, INTO THE DARK unfolds an expansive landscape of Black anti-colonial resistance. Here, alongside Hans Christian Andersen characters from the 1840 theatre play The Mulatoo, we encounter the historical rebel leader Queen Mary, the Afrofuturist Sun Ra, the writer James Baldwin, the founders of the Black Lives Matter movement, and many others.

The Gaze, (2017-ongoing)
The live performance and video piece The Gaze, produces an intense scene where the gaze is at the center. The quiet confrontational style of the scene poetically aims to reveal colonialism’s imprint at present time, reflecting on humanity and power structures, as well as challenging “the white gaze.” For the live version a huge mirror encounters the audience before they meet the performers. The live version also consists of an interactive dimension which the video naturally does not contain.
